Details that disappear before you have had time to understand how quickly all of it is changing. Photographs are the only part of it you get to keep exactly as it was.

Nothing about a newborn session should feel rushed. There is time for feeding. There is time for settling. There is time for a parent to simply hold their baby and not be photographed at all.
The camera waits. Your baby does not have to perform. Everything you see in these photographs happened at the pace your baby set — the stretch, the sigh, the particular way they fold their hands under their chin when they finally give in to sleep.
Wraps, wardrobe and props are chosen so that in fifteen years the photographs still look like your child rather than like the year they were taken. Soft neutrals, real texture, natural light where the room allows it. Nothing that dates.

The baby
comes first.
Every decision in a newborn session — the order, the pace, the poses, when to stop — is made from that one rule outward.
Baby-led, always
Your baby sets the order and the pace. If they are unsettled, we stop, feed, and wait. No photograph is worth pushing a newborn through.
Never forced into a pose
If a baby does not naturally settle into a position, it does not happen. Limbs are never bent or held into shapes a baby resists.
Supported at every moment
Heads and necks are supported. A parent or assistant stays within arm’s reach of the baby whenever they are on a raised surface.
Composites, honestly explained
Poses that appear balanced or suspended are made from separate frames in which a parent is holding the baby the whole time, then combined afterwards. Ask about any image and you will be told exactly how it was made.
Warm, clean and unhurried
The room is kept warm for a baby without clothes. Wraps and props are cleaned between sessions, and hands are washed before your baby is touched.
Feeding and settling are part of it
Sessions are booked with enough room that a long feed or a long cry costs you nothing. Parents are welcome to stop the session at any point, for any reason.

We begin before you arrive.
Most families reach out somewhere in the second or third trimester, which lets us hold a window around your due date rather than a single fixed day. Nothing is confirmed until your baby is here and we know how the first week has gone.
Before the session we talk through what you actually want to end up with — a wall, an album, a photograph for a grandparent overseas — and work backwards from that. Wardrobe, colours, who is coming, what your home light is like if we are photographing there.
The session
Slow mornings. Warm rooms. No rushing.
Mornings, usually, because that is when newborns are sleepiest. The room is kept warm, the lights are soft, and you are welcome to sit down and do very little.
We start with your baby, then bring in whoever is here — parents together, each of you alone, siblings early while they are still interested, grandparents if they came. Feeding and settling happen whenever they need to. A session that stops three times is a normal session.
The artwork
The photographs become something you can hold.
Your gallery arrives privately, edited by hand — not run through a filter — and sized for both printing and sending to family. It is yours to download and keep.
From there, the part that matters most: getting a few of them off the screen. Fine-art prints, a framed piece for the wall, an album laid out with you. In twenty years the file will have moved through four devices. The album will still be on the shelf.

Before you ask
The things parents want to know.
Most families reach out in the second or third trimester, which lets us hold a window around your due date rather than a fixed day. If your baby is already here, get in touch anyway — it is very often still possible, and older newborns photograph beautifully in a different, more awake way.
The very sleepy, deeply curled frames tend to happen in the first two weeks, so that is the usual window. It is not a deadline. Some babies stay sleepy for a month; some are alert at eight days and give you something else entirely. We plan around your baby rather than around a number.
Then we stop and wait. Feeding, changing, and simply being held by a parent are part of the session, not interruptions to it. Sessions are scheduled with enough room that a long unsettled stretch does not cost you any photographs. No baby is ever posed through crying.
Yes, from The Signature upward — parents together and separately, and one sibling included. Grandparents and extended family are welcome, added at a small per-person cost. Siblings are photographed early while they are still interested, and never made to hold the baby unsupported.
Sessions are held at the studio in Cambridge, Ontario by appointment, or in your own home if you would rather not travel with a days-old baby. Families come from across Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Hamilton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Safety decides how every photograph is made. Sessions are baby-led and warm, your baby is never left unsupported, and anything that looks like a balanced or suspended pose is created as a composite from frames where a parent is holding the baby the whole time. You are welcome to ask exactly how any image was made.
